Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Gatter is operated by Apogee Corporation Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”). We are the data controller for personal information collected through the Gatter app and website (gatter.co.uk).

2. What we collect

  • Account information: name and email address when you register.
  • Status information: venue check-ins and availability status you set voluntarily. These expire automatically and are never stored permanently.
  • Photos: images you upload to Gatterings. Stored on Cloudflare R2 and accessible only to participants of that event.
  • Device token: your Expo push notification token, used only to send notifications you have opted into.
  • Waitlist: name and email address if you join our pre-launch waitlist.

3. What we do not collect

  • We do not store your GPS location. Venue check-ins are chosen by you, not derived from background location tracking.
  • We do not sell your data to third parties.
  • We do not serve advertising.

4. How we use your information

  • To provide and improve the Gatter service.
  • To send push notifications about friend activity and Gatterings you participate in (you can opt out in your device settings at any time).
  • To contact waitlist members when the app launches (one email only).

5. Data sharing

We use the following sub-processors:

  • Cloudflare R2 — photo storage (EU/global CDN)
  • Expo — push notification routing
  • PostgreSQL / Redis — hosted on our own server (UK-based VPS)

We do not share your data with any other third parties.

6. Data retention

  • Status check-ins expire automatically after 1–8 hours (your choice).
  • Account data is retained until you delete your account.
  • Photos are retained until deleted by the uploader or event creator.
  • Waitlist entries are deleted after the launch email has been sent, or earlier on request.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data. You can delete your account and all associated data directly from the app. For any other requests, contact us at privacy@gatter.co.uk.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via the app. Continued use of Gatter constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
